This will be the second post today about a plant that grows prostrate along the ground (like a ground cover) that has yellow flowers. According to Wikipedia this plant is also eaten, but by body builders trying to build up natural testosterone Tribulus terrestris after using steroids, who knew?
T. terestris is an annual in the Zygophyllaceae family. It is native to the old world (Eurasia, Africa, Australia) but is now distributed around the world and can be found in most US states. It has opposite leaves, and yellow flowers with 5 petals. The seed has sharp points, which give the plant its name.
This plant has been known to puncture bike tires (see seed picture below) and damage bare feet...so, I do not particularly like this plant, despite its nice flowers.
